14th - 15th July Matariki Celebration
Join us for an unforgettable overnight sailing journey on Lion New Zealand to celebrate Matariki.
Our journey begins at 10am on Friday 14th July from Auckland Viaduct, heading towards Motuihe Island. Once we arrive and anchor, we'll enjoy a delicious lunch before heading ashore to learn about the Motuihe Island Restoration Trust and assist in their tree planting restoration project to celebrate Matariki 2023 with new life.
Afterward, we'll sail to Rotoroa Island for a BBQ dinner under the stars on the beach, away from the bright lights of Auckland City.
To witness the Matariki cluster at its best, we'll rise early on Day Two at 5:30am to experience Matariki rise over Aotearoa and enjoy the aroma of fresh coffee brewing. For the adventurous, we'll even have a mid-winter swim before breakfast.
We'll then sail to Tiritiri Matangi for lunch and a bush walk to observe the native bird life.
We'll end our magical journey with a sail home, with Rangitoto to port and the Auckland Skyline to starboard before disembarking at Auckland Viaduct around 4pm on Saturday 15th July.
